DFIR Training Blog

Time is short, and so is this #DFIR post

It has only been a brief period time since I have started to manage http://www.dfir.training , so here's to the first few weeks.

Here is what I have learned so far:

  • I found lots of familiar blogs and resources that haven’t been updated years < sad face >
  • I found lots of new and upcoming blogs and resources with massive potential < happy face >
  • There is more DFIR information scattered on the Internet than you can shake a stick at.
  • Compiling DFIR resources takes time, but is worth it when you need it.

My suggestions to the DFIR crowd:

  • If you have a blog, write something.  Keep writing.  Short or long, we read it.
  • If you don’t have a DFIR blog, consider it.  Seriously. Why not?
  • Get involved in the community.  You will not regret it.

The DFIR Training website:

I’m designing it the way I like it, so that I can find what I need quick and easy.  If you have a better way to do something, let me know and I’ll probably do it that way (if technically possible…).

I have more resources to be added in the next weeks, although it feels that it may take years to get to everything.  Regardless, keep the suggestions and resources coming.   If you sent me something to add, but don’t see it up right away, it is because I most likely haven’t got to it yet.   I’m getting there, bit by bit.

Take a look around the website.  Sections that are incomplete (such as the tool database , which is being rebuilt) will be done in the upcoming days/weeks.  New DFIR resources will appear over time as I get to them.  Currently, there are hundreds of individual resources to add in several group categories, which will take time to finish.

Soon, you will be able to register (free) to the site in order to subscribe to a forthcoming newsletter , more easily use the classified ads , and claim ownership of your tools and directory listings .  This means that if you had a user account before I took over the site, your account has been deactivated until I get the membership signup configured.

Now, off to get some work done so I can get some more work done..
